So the E-SPEC is a frame-mounted bike carrier. This guy's gonna make contact with the frame. If you have a carbon fiber bike or a step through bike or a different style frame, may not be the best option. A wheel-mounted carrier may be where I would guide you, but if you're okay with that contact, this is gonna be one of your three points of contact. Hey everyone, Charles here at etrailer and today we'll be taking a look at the Swagman E-Spec bike rack for two electric bikes for two inch hitches on the 2022 Volkswagen Taos. So this is a heavy duty platform style rack. It can accommodate bikes up to 70 pounds per bike. It's not just for electric bikes, here we have a mountain bike, but you can carry your thin wheels, pretty much anything as long as it's under 70 pounds. And it's not carbon frame 'cause you have a frame mount here and it is made out of a steel construction, making it durable and finished with a black powder coat making it rust resistant. Kuat Piston SR Bike Rack Review - 2022 Volkswagen Atlas Cross Sport- Video
How's it going This is Ed here with etrailer.com, and we're taking a look at the Kuat Piston SR on the back of our 2022 Volkswagen Atlas Cross Sport. The Piston SR is actually a wheel mount carrier, essentially making contact with your bike and securing it from the wheels. It makes two points of contact on the front and rear. Essentially what this is for, is this is gonna be for the person that has a unconventional frame, or a carbon fiber frame, nice paint job. Anything where you don't either can't, or don't want to make contact with the frame of the bike, that's gonna be your best option. As far as your clamps here, these guys are gonna go between 29 and 20 inches as far as a wheel diameter, and it can adjust for a fender as well. more

Kuat Transfer V2 Bike Rack Review - 2022 Volkswagen Atlas Cross Sport- Video
Hi, neighbor, this is Ed here, giving you a review, a little look at our Kuat Transfer V2 on the 2022 Volkswagen Atlas Cross Sport. So let's take a look at this guy. So the, the Transfer V2 is actually a wheel mount bike carrier that's going to work out well for a variety of different styles of bikes. If you have a carbon frame, a carbon fiber frame, or if you have a unconventional frame, like a step through, or a lady's bike, you know, this would work 'cause since the mounting points is the front and rear wheel, it can work across the board on all of those things. Really handy as far as the way that you set this guy up, it's just a ratcheting system where you put the weight down on your front tire, and on your rear wheel, you just use a little ratchet strap to secure it. This guy can support bikes up to 40 pounds per bike, and support a wheel width of up to three inches. more

You're gonna have a cradle with a strap on the front and rear wheel, that will support a wheel up to three inches wide if you want, I mean, well, if you have fat tires, you can add a cradle that will go up to five inches. Something to take notice of is also with the E-SPEC, it doesn't tilt so you can access your cargo area, when the bikes are loaded to it, but that is what also gives you the stability to maintain the 70-pound rating on an RV or SUV or car. more

How's it going This is Ed here taking a look at the Yakima OnRamp on the back of our 2022 Volkswagen Atlas Cross Sport. So, the OnRamp is actually a very versatile bike carrier. It's good for your e-bikes, up to 66 pounds each. It's capable for RV and off-road use up to 40 pounds per bike, and it's gonna help you 'cause it comes with a included ramp to help you get the heavier bikes onto the carrier. So that's kind of a huge plus with it. As far as the way it secures your bike, it is a front frame mounted carrier, so you're gonna have a contact point here, as well as two straps on the cradles to secure your bike on the carrier. more

All right, so why would you want to go with a wheel mount bike carrier So if you have a bike that is a carbon frame, or if you have something that's a fancier paint job, or something where you just don't want contact to the actual structure of your bike, a wheel mount carrier is gonna be a great option for you. Now, as far as the type of dimensions we're looking at as far as your wheel, up to 29 inches, as well as being able to support bikes that have fenders on the lower position. As far as the adjustment bar here, it's tool-free, so you'd be able to just squeeze these two knobs on the side here and make adjustments going down the pins. That's another really cool feature on the Piston Pro. more

Alright, now this guy here is a wheel mount bike carrier and you may want to know why you would want a wheel mount carrier. So if you have a carbon fiber frame or a bike that is, has a fancy paint job or a unconventional bike, like a step through, a wheel mount carrier is gonna be a good option because it doesn't make any frame contact. And as far as the cradle, it can support up to three inches. So your fat tire bikes won't work, but as far as your diameter, you can go up to 29 inches and down to 20 inches. I also can support bikes that have fenders just by mounting to the wheel at a lower point. more

Alright, so we're gonna take a closer look at the Sport Rider SE. We have our e-bike on here and the first thing I would like to point out is that this is a frame mount bike. What that means is your bike is secured by the frame to your carrier. If you have a carbon fiber bike, unconventional, like a step in bike, or you know, just a kid's bike or anything, a wheel mount carrier may be a better option because it makes no contact to the frame and it's a wider variety of types of bikes that you can secure to it. more

Saris MHS Modular 2 Bike Rack Review - 2022 Volkswagen Atlas Cross Sport- Video
How's it going This is Ed here and we're takin' a look at the Saris MHS on the back of the 2022 Volkswagen Atlas Cross Sport. Well, the MHS is a solid bike carrier for you if you have two heavier e-bikes. It can support the weight of up to 80 pounds per bike and, as far as your wheel mounts, these guys are adjustable and they can support wheels up to a sizes between 20 inches and 29 inches using the tool free adjustment bar here and it also support a bike with a fender in the lower position where it would clear your fender. As far as the style of carrier, this is what's called a wheel mount carrier. Basically what that is is no contact to your frame. This is gonna work for any style of bike, but it's usually gonna be for a person that has a carbon frame or a type of frame where they don't want any contact from the carrier. more

Hi, I'm Matt with etrailer and today we're gonna be talking about the Hollywood Racks Destination 4 Bike Rack on our 2022 Volkswagen Atlas Cross Sport. Now this is gonna be a great bike rack for you if you're looking for something at more of the beginner level, something that's gonna just be for your family just to get your bikes from point A to point B. Let's take a closer look at it. So if I look at all the contact points we have, we're gonna have three, one on each tire just using straps. And then we're gonna have this kind of clamp strap contraption that connects to our frame using this padded point here and the straps that wraps around it. Since we are making frame contact, I wouldn't recommend using any carbon frame bikes. more

Kuat NV 2.0 2-Bike Platform Rack Review - 2023 Volkswagen Tiguan- Video
Hello neighbors, it's Brad here at Etrailer, and today we're taking a look at the Kuat NV 2.0 platform-style, two-bike bike rack on a 2023 Volkswagen Tiguan. When choosing a bike rack for any vehicle there's lots of different choices, and the NV is definitely one of my personal favorites, not only because it's a platform style which I think is the best way to secure a bike, but also it's wheel mounted. That means that you're going to have a variety of different bikes that can go on here, including e-bikes and also carbon fiber frames, whereas sometimes your frame-mounted ones, you're limited as to what you can put on here, and this one works really well, even with a large, 29-inch bike with a long wheel base. That's pretty wide. It works really well on this Tiguan. The capacities of this bike rack are pretty solid too. more

Today, we have our rack installed on an inch and a quarter by inch and a quarter receiver tube but this also works with two inch hitches. Thule Hitch Bike Racks Review - 2018 Volkswagen GTI- Video
Hey, everybody, Ryan here at etrailer. Today on our 2018 Volkswagen GTI, we're going to be taking a look at the Thule Helium Platform Bike Rack.So today we have the two-bike version, but there's also a one-bike version available as well. Now, one of the main things that really separates this rack from many of the other platform style racks is that our bike is going to be held in place with two wheel hooks, so one in the front and one in the back. So it gives us a lot of security, and we're not going to have to deal with any straps or pins and clips, anything like that. But with that being said with the two-bike versions, a lot of times when you go to put that second bike on the rack, the handlebars end up kind of interfering with the seat, and it can be kind of difficult to get everything lined up how you want it. That's not the case with this one. more

Hey everybody, Ryan here at etrailer. Today on our 2018 Volkswagen GTI, we're going to be taking a look at the Kuat Sherpa 2.0 two bike platform rack. So today on our Volkswagen, we have the Pearl white version, but it's also available in black as well as gray. So after having the rack on the back of the GTI, I really like it for a few different reasons, one of the big ones being that we're still going to be able to have full hatch access, even when we have a couple of bikes loaded up back here. Speaker 1: Today, on our 2017 Volkswagen Golf, we're gonna be taking a look at the Kuat transfer 2-bike platform rack, part number TS02G. Now, it's also available in black, using part number TS02B. Our Kuat transfer 2 is gonna be a 2-bike platform rack that's gonna have a lot of features that are gonna come in handy.I know a lot of times, we'll have our bikes loaded up and we're either getting ready to leave or getting ready to go out riding our bikes and we forget something in the back hatch. So, instead of taking all the bikes off and having to deal with all that hassle, if we come to the foot lever here, we can push down and with our bike still loaded, we can tilt the rack away from our car and we'll be able to get into our hatch and get anything in or out that we may need. And it's simple to put it back in place. We can simply just lift up and it'll latch back in.Now, our bikes are gonna be held by two points of contact. more

Thule Doubletrack Hitch Bike Rack Review - 2013 Volkswagen Jetta- Video
Today on our 2013 Volkswagen Jetta well be doing a test fit of the Thule Doubletrack Platform Style 2-Bike Carrier for 1 and 2-inch hitches, part number th990xt. To begin with since this vehicle has an 1 hitch on it, we will not be using the coupler that allows you to use it on a 2-inch hitch. First we will go ahead and slide the bike rack into the hitch on the vehicle. Then well go ahead and take the anti-rattle bolt and thread it in from the passenger side towards the drivers side. Were going to go ahead and use a ratchet here to make things a little quicker for tightening down the anti-rattle bolt. A wrench is included with the kit that you can tighten down the bolt with if you so choose. more

Yakima DoubleDown Ace 2 Bike Rack Review - 2005 Volkswagen Jetta- Video
Today on our 2005 Volkswagen Jetta well be test fitting the Yakima Doubledown Ace 2-Bike Carrier, part number y02450. To begin our test fit, well slide the shank of the carrier into the opening of the hitch, line up our pin holes, insert our pin with the red knob into the pin holes, and turn the black knob at the back of the shank to engage the anti-rattle device. Now that our bike carrier is secured to our Jetta, well go over a few clearance measurements to see how the two fit together. We have about 14 inches of ground clearance. The closest part of the carrier to the closest part of our Jetta is here at the rear bumper about 4 inches away, and weve added about 9 inches to the overall length of the vehicle. Well now pull the red lever at the top of the mast to swing the cradle arms out, and with the cradle arms out weve added about 22 inches to the overall length of the vehicle. more

Today on our 2013 Volkswagen Passat, well be test fitting with the Thule Apex 4 Bike Carrier, part number TH9025. Note that with this carrier and this vehicle, which is equipped with a Class I hitch, you will only be able to carry two bikes. To begin our test fit, well slide the shank of the carrier into the opening of the hitch, line up our pin holes, enter the spring-loaded pin to the pin hole, and turn the black knob to engage our anti-rattle device to secure the carrier to the vehicle. Now well go ahead and go over a few clearance measurements to see to see how the bike carrier and this vehicle will fit together. There is about nine inches of ground clearance. Closest part of the vehicle to the closest part of the carrier is about three inches. more
